Seek Salon DIY: Cocktail Hour at Home

You probably remember Satbhajan Khalsa from her Seek Journeys post last year featuring Portugal and Spain (in case you missed it, be sure to check it out here).

Satbhajan lives in a 1920’s era home with her daughter and husband in the Boyle Heights district of Los Angeles. She got into the art of making incredible cocktails after getting her masters degree in marriage and family therapy while looking for an extra income source as well as creative outlet while working at a clinic. She shares her colorful, inventive, and delicious creations on her instagram @thecocktailcook so be sure to check them all out there. It is hard not to be inspired seeing all her creations and recipes!

These days, like most of us, she’s sheltering in place and shared the below recipe for the Seek Collective community to try out at home. Enjoy!

Take Me There Margarita

This is filled with fresh citrus which can be substituted with any citrus you have, good for the vitamin C!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 oz. tequila

3/4 oz. lemon or lime

1/2 oz. simple syrup*

Juice of 1/2 an orange

1/2 oz. Aperol or Campari

Sliced ginger

Salt mixture (kosher salt mixed with ground Chile and cinnamon)

Recipe:

Muddle fresh ginger in a shaker (use a bell jar if you have no shaker and use the back of a wooden serving spoon if you have no muddler). Add all other ingredients with ice and shake well. Line glass using lemon or lime half, dip in salt mixture. Strain into glass and garnish with whatever you have!

*make simple syrup using equal parts sugar and water and warm on stovetop until clear

Also, here’s a Seek Collective Cocktail Hour Spotify playlist to go along with your libation!
